Casamicciola Terme has an area of 5.6 sq km with a population of about 7000 people. Its altitude is meters 0 above sea level to 788 reached near Epomeo’s mountain. The territory is divided between the villages of Perrone, Castiglione, Piazza Bagni, La Rita, Sentinella and Piazza Maio. The town of Casamicciola added in 1956 the original name as a Terme to the presence on its territory of many spring waters. They abound more in "Castiglione", "Rita" and Piazza Bagni are located where most hotels and spas. Some of the best known sources are: Gurgitello, Tamburro, Gold, Silver, Iron, Eye Casting. Casamicciola ranks first among the other municipalities on the island for cures. In the last century was attended by an international clientele as Lamartine, Renan, Ibsen and Garibaldi. Few historical monuments because of the earthquakes (the last dates back to 1883): Pio Mount of Misericordia, the first factory for cures, of Buon Consiglio Church, Church of St. Gabriel, chapel dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi parish church dedicated to the Sacred Heart and St. Mary Penitent Magdalen, Church of the Geophysical Observatory founded by Julius Grablovitz.
